Simon Bailey reflects on his first year at Road Safety Designs

Throughout the pandemic, we have found ourselves reflecting on what we were doing in the business this time last year and imagining what we could be doing this time next year when hopefully, the economy will have started to recover.

Our biggest highlight of last February was Simon Bailey joining Road Safety Designs as a Management Consultant. As a former Director of Abergavenny-based Motorcare Motor Factors, Simon has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience of working in the automotive aftermarket, and has worked closely with our Founder and Managing Director, Stephen Wornham and Commercial Director, Carol Gillanders over the past year.

Simon said: “Like so many businesses around the world, Road Safety Designs has had to revise its plans and flex its approach over the past 12 months to adapt in these unprecedented times. Nevertheless, we have created many exciting and significant opportunities, and I’m hopeful the foundations we have laid will pay dividends in 2021 and beyond.

“If there’s one thing I have learned in recent months, it’s that Zoom is great for ‘routine relationship management’, but when you’re trying to build a relationship from scratch - particularly with overseas contacts - there is no substitute for face-to-face interaction.

“Despite the challenges and with the help of Welsh Government whose international division has introduced us to some key global players, we are hoping to announce some exciting developments in the coming weeks in relation to our international strategy.

“Work is also taking place behind the scenes to expand the BriteAngle product range and we were delighted to receive the news last month that we were highly commended in the FirstCar Awards 2021.

“With lots of ‘irons in the fire I am excited to see what the next 12 months will bring for Road Safety Designs and am delighted to be a part of what I firmly believe is a great Welsh export success and potentially, a real game-changer in road safety not just in the UK, but around the world.”
